David C. Kim, MD sits on the Board of Directors of American Health.
He also currently serves as the Vice President of Business Development, Northeast, of Progressive Emergency Physicians. Progressive Emergency Physicians, founded by Dr. Kim in 2013, provides its hospital clients with healthcare administration, management, staffing, and consulting services. As the founding member and VP of Business Development of Progressive, Dr. Kim emphasizes quality, patient-centered care and the importance of continuity of care, demonstrated by the implementation of an Aftercare program in which employees reach out to patients recently seen in our clients’ Emergency Departments. Dr. Kim’s excellence in operations and dedication to emergency medicine has been a driving force behind the success of progressive.
Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia University in 1990 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Prior to receiving his medical degree, Dr. Kim developed his strong business acumen as an operational consultant with Arthur Andersen, working primarily for multinational companies. Dr. Kim, subsequent to his tenure with Arthur Andersen, attended the College of Medicine at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He completed his residency in training in Emergency Medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and, after completing his residency, became an Attending Physician for the North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital System. Dr. Kim is currently board certified in Emergency Medicine. In addition, Dr. Kim graduated from the Columbia School of Business with an MBA in 2018.
Prior to the founding of Progressive, Dr. Kim founded the Premier Care Urgent Care in 2007. Dr. Kim acted as the Chief Executive Officer of Premier Care from its inception in 2007 through 2014. Dr. Kim, alongside Dr. Surinder Sandhu, worked tirelessly to create an urgent care center that would provide high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care for members of the local community. The quick and cost-efficient services provided by Premier Care for common medical issues led to its rapid growth and the employment of over 400 staff members. Starting with just one office in Lynbrook, Premier Care grew exponentially throughout Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn to become one of the most successful and reputable urgent care facilities in the area.
In 2013, Premier Care merged with CityMD to become CityMD Urgent Care, which has become the leading urgent care network in the Metropolitan area. To date, there are over 120 locations throughout Long Island, Manhattan, Westchester, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, and New Jersey. In addition, Dr. Kim has partnered with Dr. Scott Asnis to establish Dental365, a management company managing 35 dental practices throughout the Metropolitan area with the potential for significant growth in the near future.
