Dr. Alexander Weingarten is on the Medical Advisory Board in the area of Anesthesia and Pain Management. He is currently Co-Director of Comprehensive Pain Management Associates. He is board-certified physician in the discipline of Anesthesiology and has been practicing medicine for 40 years.
Dr. Weingarten has been elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pain Medicine. In addition, he has met the requirements for the American Board of Anesthesiology sub-specialty certification in Pain Management.
Dr. Weingarten engages in all modalities of pain management with expertise in implantable technologies (morphine pump and spinal cord stimulators), fluoroscopic guided needle placement, radiofrequency ablation, percutaneous laser discectomy, epiduralysis and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. He is an attending anesthesiologist at North Shore LIJ Health Systems at Syosset and Long Island Jewish Hospitals.
He is the Director of Pain Management at the DayOp Center – Mineola, New York where he credentials physicians to perform pain management procedures. Dr. Weingarten is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, American Pain Society, and American Society of Interventional Pain Management Physicians and New York State Pain Society.
Dr. Weingarten has lectured extensively about safe opioid prescribing. He recently authored a book chapter entitled Interventional Pain Management Procedures and another chapter pertaining to radiofrequency ablation. He continues to practice anesthesiology on a part time basis.
He is a member of the anesthesia department of Nassau University Medical Center, and trains resident physicians in pain management. Dr. Weingarten is a founder and past president of the New York State Pain Society – the only pain management society representing New York State licensed physicians. Dr. Weingarten is a big believer in the value of education. He is an associate professor of New York Medical College, department of Pharmacology. His company New York Medical Consultants was founded 20 years ago to offer operational advice and consulting to other doctors and institutions. Dr. Weingarten has founded dozens of successful businesses. He has been married over 30 years and two sets of twins, all of whom are in the medical field.
