John W. Odom, MD sits on the Medical Advisory Board in the areas of Trauma Medicine and Surgery for American Health.

Doctor Odom was born and raised in South Georgia, Dr. John W. Odom graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1977. He went on to attend the Universidad de Guadalajara and graduated from New York Medical College in 1983, where he complete his residency in general surgery. He then went on to perform his fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1990. After serving briefly in the United States Army, he moved to Savannah to begin his practice and since then, has called it home.

Dr. Odom specializes in complicated surgery. He is the only practitioner in southeast Georgia who offers implantation of gastric pacemakers for patients diagnosed with diabetic gastroparesis. Dr. Odom is bronze star recipient gulf war, liberation of Kuwait medal. Board member St.Joseph Candler, Past Chairman Department of surgery and past President of its medical staff. He also served as program director general surgery fellowship. associate professor of surgery for the medical college of Georgia and Mercer Medical College as well as a former Director of Life Star EMS Network.
